Photographers Wanted for EXPOSURE - A Competition Celebrating the Power of the Image
BROOKLYN, NY.- New York Times Photo Editor Patrick Witty, Supermodel and Fashion Icon Tiiu Kuik and NYC Gallery Owner David Kesting will select one photographer to have their work projected on a massive scale onto buildings in the top New York City art districts for EXPOSURE. Photography competition, EXPOSURE, is the latest in a series of open calls for new art being presented by Artists Wanted. The top photographer will also be awarded a $2,008 grant, an opening party at the Leo Kesting Gallery in Manhattan, and a feature in the publication "The Annual".

"EXPOSURE celebrates not only unfound talent but the strength of the image and we've created a competition to match its influence and power," says Goodman. "Through our judges, sponsors and the presentation of the work, our goal is to make one photographer an overnight success."

In their last open call "Art Ate New York", Artist Wanted challenged artists to create renegade art that pushed the boundaries of originality and legality. For EXPOSURE, Artists Wanted is upping the ante with this massive prize.

In addition to the main award, the top student photographer will receive a $1,000 scholarship and the educator connected to the selected student submission will receive a $500 grant. Every photographer who submits will have their portfolio featured online in a permanent collection. To add some democracy to the competition, the public is invited to vote for their favorite portfolio. The portfolio with the most votes will get a $500 People's Choice Award.

Founders, Jason Goodman and William Etundi, Jr. have a history of creating innovative solutions to the difficulties faced by artists. Artists Wanted is an organization dedicated to providing opportunities for emerging talent and transforming the process of breaking into the professional art world. It was launched in July 2007 in a raw warehouse space in Brooklyn with an art party attended by 1,200 guests and from there, the growth has been exponential.

The rules of the competition are simple: photographs are submitted online at http://www.artistswanted.org/exposure/, the public votes, and the judges make the final call.

For this project, Artists Wanted is joined by a group of sponsors who share their interest in creating new opportunities for artists: JPG Magazine, 3rd Ward, PhotoShelter, Endless Room, the Williamsburg Gallery Association and Leo Kesting Gallery.
