Dr. Thomas Bruhn Becomes Interim Director of The William Benton Museum Of Art

STORRS, CT.- Dr. Thomas Bruhn has been named Interim Director of the William Benton Museum of Art, the state's art museum located on the University of Connecticut campus at Storrs.

Dr. Bruhn has served as Curator of Collections since 1977 and is an adjunct member of the faculty of the Art and Art History Department of the School of Fine Arts. He completed his doctoral studies at the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia.

The University's School of Fine Arts Dean David Woods will form a search committee to fill the position which was held by Steven Kern from 2006 until recently. Mr. Kern has become the director of the Everson Museum of Art in Syracuse, New York.

The Benton is known for its changing exhibitions of art from the 15th-21st centuries, faculty and MFA installations, and traveling exhibitions, which recently included The Art of Gaman: Arts and Crafts from the Japanese American Internment Camps 1942-1946. The museum maintains a full schedule of docent tours, lectures, musical performances and other cultural events.
