NEW YORK, NY.- On 10 September Christies New York Impressionist and Modern Art department launches its fall season with its biannual mid-season sale, offering 175 lots with estimates ranging from $3,000 to $80,000.
The sale features an exciting array of 19th and 20th Century paintings, drawings and sculpture carefully selected by a team of specialists, offering both new and established collectors the opportunity to enhance their collections. This seasons highlights include works by Gustav Klimt, Camille Bambois, Jean-Pierre Cassigneul, Jules Cavaillès, Alexander Kanoldt, Carlos Nadal, Salvador Dalí, Andre Masson, Pablo Picasso, Auguste Rodin, Paul Signac, Yvonne Canu and Yves Tanguy.
Jean-Pierre Cassigneul, renowned for his elegant depictions of fashionable women, is represented by several alluring works including Femme au peignoir blanc (estimate: $60,000-80,000) and Nicole (estimate: $40,000-60,000). Highlights also include pointillist works by Yvonne Canu, including two captivating views of St. Tropez estimated at $18,000-25,000 and $25,000-35,000, respectively.
Other featured highlights are works on paper by Surrealist masters such as Salvador Dalí (Etude pour le projet corrida; estimate: $35,000-45,000) and Andre Masson (Paysage érotique; estimate: $3,000-5,000).
