BONN.- Jürgen Partenheimer (born 1947) is an artist who, starting from the drawing and the graphic print, has over the past years developed a multi-layered work that extends to painting and sculpture. The poetic quality and the associative richness of his works burst through the boundaries of genres and media, so that it is no surprise if especially composers and musicians react to his works. Thus the South African-Irish musician Kevin Volans (born 1949) composed a piece of music in several movements that alludes to Partenheimer’s art. This project, developed for the Ikon Gallery in Birmingham and the Kunstmuseum Bonn, will bring music and the visual arts together in a new way, making the old dream of a Gesamtkunstwerk perceptible in a contemporary form.
