NEW YORK.- A new photography exhibition entitled ‘Capturing Film History In The Making’ opened at the Film Society of Lincoln Center in New York City. The exhibition showcases iconic, behind-the-scenes images of some of the world’s greatest stars filming at UK-based Pinewood and Shepperton Studios over the past 50 years, including Stanley Kubrick and Sean Connery.

Images from Pinewood and Getty Images have been selected to illustrate the extraordinary heritage of these landmark British film and TV studios which date back to the early 20th Century, having merged in more recent years to become the Pinewood Group. Both Pinewood and Shepperton Studios have become synonymous with British and international world-class filmmaking, home to revered filmmakers throughout the years and some of the most successful features ever produced.

Photographs showcased in the exhibition includes David Lean watching Alec Guinness be transformed for his role of Fagin in Oliver Twist; Keira Knightley in Pinewood’s Underwater Stage filming scenes for Atonement, Peter Sellers in costume as Inspector Clouseau on the set of a Pink Panther feature and Charlie Chaplin directing his daughter Geraldine and Marlon Brando in A Countess from Hong Kong. Orson Welles, Gregory Peck, Sophia Loren, Tim Burton and Joan Collins are amongst other artists captured off-set in the exhibition’s pictures.

To celebrate the opening of the exhibition, an exclusive reception will held on the evening of August 13th at the Frieda and Roy Furman Gallery, Walter Reade Theater at Lincoln Center to which selected members of the media and special guests from the world of film and photography will be invited for a private preview.
