LONDON.- The Hungarian Cultural Centre presents Manipulation of Genes Modification of Genes, on view through October 15, 2008. The 21st century is the age of biotechnology. Science is able to answer new questions thanks to the complete mapping of the human genome. Science and art are two distinct entities, but with the same end: knowledge. It is difficult to create a visual representation of a gene, the packet of information at the foundation of heredity, because it is outside the human visual range. Science is able to interfere with the fate of man in a manipulative manner. The delicate subject of this exhibition is the interpretation and reflection of this scientifically and socially highly complex process, as well as its representation in art.
