Entry Deadline November 15 for California's Premier Juried Exhibition
SACRAMENTO, CA.- The Kingsley Art Club and the Crocker Art Museum seek entries for California’s premier juried exhibition, The 75th Crocker-Kingsley. The competition is open to painters, sculptors, photographers, printmakers and craft artists who are current California residents. Each artist may submit up to three works for $40. Entries must be received by November 15, 2008, and artists will be notified of inclusion in mid-December.

The 75th Crocker-Kingsley will be on view January 10 – February 6, 2009. Due to construction at the Crocker, the exhibition will take place at the Library Galleria, located at 828 I Street in Downtown Sacramento.

Nationally acclaimed artist Michael Bishop will serve as the exhibition's juror. Born in Alameda, Bishop earned his Bachelor of Arts degree from California State University, Hayward, and his Master of Arts degree from California State University, San Jose. Currently Chair of the art department at California State University, Chico, Bishop has worked in a variety of media, from photography to sculpture to large public art projects such as the Alhambra Reservoir.

Approximately 60 to 75 works will be chosen for display in the exhibition. Cash prizes will be awarded for Best of Show ($3,000), First Prize ($2,000), Second Prize ($1,000), Third Prize ($500) and Honorable Mention ($250). Visitors will have the chance to nominate their favorite work for the People’s Choice award (no cash prize). Winners will be announced at a special reception for exhibition artists on Friday, January 9, 2009 at 5:30 p.m.

The Crocker Art Museum was founded in 1885 and continues as the leading art institution for the California Capital Region and Central Valley. The Museum offers a diverse spectrum of special exhibitions, events and programs to augment its collections of California, European and Asian artworks. The Crocker is located at 216 O Street in Downtown Sacramento.
