The Outsider Art Fair Opens Today at New Location
NEW YORK CITY.- Sanford Smith’s 2009 Outsider Art Fair moves to a new home and a new date. For 16 years, the show occupied the Puck Building in SoHo during the latter weeks of January. Now that The Puck is converting into a catering hall and restaurant, The Outsider Art Fair will relocate to midtown at THE MART: 7 WEST 34TH STREET, between Fifth and Sixth Avenues on the 11th floor.

New dates—January 9th, 10th and 11th, 2009—bring the fair and Outsider Art Week to the beginning of the season. Hours will run Friday, January 9th from 11am to 8pm; Saturday, January 10 from 11am to 8pm; and Sunday, January 11 from 11am to 7pm.

This new art show facility recently housed Volta NY in March, and is owned by The Merchandise Mart of Chicago, the producers of Art Chicago, The Chicago International Antiques Fair, The Armory Show at the NY Pier and others. The Outsider Art Fair will be the first Sanford L. Smith & Associates production to take place at The Mart.

On the corner of Fifth Avenue, across from the Empire State Building, the venue is easily accessible from all 34th Street subway stations: one block from Herald Square, a few blocks from Penn Station, and a short trip from Grand Central Station or Port Authority.

The bright, clean space measures 17,000 square feet and allows exhibitors to have larger, more uniform booths. Visitors will enjoy a more spacious café and five high-speed elevators to bring them directly to the show floor from the lobby. For more information about The Outsider Art Fair, visit www.sanfordsmith.com or call 212.777.5218.
