ATLANTA, GA.- A public auction held on Feb. 7, 2009 to support the work of the not-for-profit Carter Center will allow the highest bidder to select one of six choices of original paintings by President Carter. In addition, signed, monotype giclée prints of the six paintings will also be sold. These prints are larger than the original works and are the only prints of their kind. Bids are accepted for one or more prints. Subsequent high bidders will have the same option until all pieces are sold.

The art is part of a collection of more than 100 items including sports memorabilia, art, vacation packages, and presidential artifacts that will be sold via live and silent auctions in Port St. Lucie, Fla., during the Carter Center's annual Winter Weekend celebration.

Last year, the highest bid item at the annual fundraiser was a bench of hard maple wood handcrafted by former U.S. President Jimmy Carter, which sold for $300,000.
