Artist Collective Tether to Embark on Road Trip Across the United Kingdom
NOTTINGHAM.- In September, Tether will embark on a road trip across the UK to visit and interview the many artist‐led galleries, arts initiatives and collectives that England, Scotland and Wales have to offer; learning about the practices and activities that have determined and defined each group’s developments.

These interviews will form a series of short documentary programmes that will be available for free through Tethervision, a new online television channel focusing on arts and culture, due for launch Autumn 2009.

The aim of the project is to achieve an honest representation of independent art activity in the UK in the lead up to British Art Show 7, which will launch in Nottingham in October 2010, and the independently run fringe festival, in which Tether and other artist‐led groups will be taking part.

The programmes will serve as a snapshot of the current boom in artist‐led activity and independent gallery culture in the UK, creating an overall picture of trends and experiences, informing future debate on the British art scene, as well as acting as an informative resource for aspiring artists for years to come.

Tether
Tether is an artist collective, founded in 2007 and is run by Liam Aitken, Hugh Dichmont, Benjamin Hargrave and Samuel Mercer.

‘Tethervision’ is a free online resource for video art and video about art, with programming spanning the factual; documentaries and interviews with artists, curators and academics; to specially commissioned moving image artworks.

Tethervision is a strand of Tether’s wider activity which includes The Wasp Room‐ a gallery dedicated to exhibiting contemporary art from national and international practitioners, Tether Studios‐ which houses a dozen artists, and a collaborative group practice which has seen Tether exhibit, among other places at ‘Freerange’ in London in 2008, and in their own gallery in May this year, for which the group received national press coverage.
