Galerie Van den Akker to Exhibit Sixteen Sculptures by Artist Pamela Sunday
Pamela Sunday, Cellular Sphere.
NEW YORK, NY.- Galerie Van den Akker, New York’s premier seller of European modernist furnishings, will host an exhibit of sixteen sculptures by artist Pamela Sunday.

Pamela Sunday creates hand built ceramic sculptures inspired by nature and science. She is renowned for her meticulous craftsmanship and for testing the limits of her materials both in surface and form. Every sculpture is unique.

Highlights from the exhibit will include: Atom: stoneware with a glossy pewter glaze, Hive: brown mottled stoneware with gold luster in the indents, Burst: stoneware with a textural glaze, Electrum: stoneware with a gold/bronze glaze and Oculus: stoneware with black glaze and opalescent over-glaze. The forms will be shown in sizes ranging from 10.5 inches to 19 inches.

The exhibit will be on view starting Friday October 9th through Tuesday December 1st. A reception for the artist will be held on Thursday October 8th from 6-9pm.

Pamela Sunday makes hand built ceramic sculptures inspired by nature and science. She is known for her meticulous craftsmanship and for testing the limits of her chosen materials both in surface and form. Scientist and printmaker Ernst Haeckel and his systematic classifications of plant and animal morphology, as well as, Karl Blossfeldt’s macrophotgraphy of plants, inspire her latest work. Sunday lives and works in Brooklyn, New York.

Her work has been featured in international publications including: Architectural Digest, Connaissance Des Arts, Interior Design and House & Garden. Sunday's work resides in private collections and is featured in galleries around the world.

Galerie Van den Akker is a joint venture of Rob Copley, Ray Raymakers and Sean Robins, presenting a clearly experimental and forward direction in aesthetics, focusing on the newest ideas in 20th century and post-modern design in furniture, lighting and accessories. Galerie Van den Akker offers a unique collection of breakthrough pieces ranging from the early 20th century to the 21st centuries that Sean, Rob and Ray personally selected from across Europe. The partners have scoured the globe to find the museum-quality works and spend considerable time researching authenticity and provenance. This collection offers a wide variety of the most distinguished names in 20th century European design including Ado Chale, Jean Royere, Jean Brand, Gio Ponti, Fernand Dresse, Andre Sornay and Fontana Arte, as well as work by a few important contemporary designers, such as Roberto Rida or prototypes by Ron Arad. Committed to the progress of design, Galerie Van den Akker also showcases works by emerging European designers, as well as one-of-a-kind and extremely limited production pieces. This vision has established Galerie Van den Akker as a crucial resource for the modern collector.
