ROME.- 28 days open and three for the inauguration for a total of 272 hours. 74,114 visitors including the opening on the 27th, 28th and 29th of May last, 49,114 since the official opening on the 30th of May, with a record of 4,700 on the 2nd of June, a peak of 3,200 on the 17th (on the occasion of the first electronic music event in the MAXXIMALISM programme) and a daily average of 1,754 visitors.
2,000 accredited journalists, 180 guided tours with over 2,800 participants, over 5,916 catalogues sold, with the record being held by the MAXXI guide of which over 3,362 copies have been sold.
And while these are the real numbers, those relating to the virtual MAXXI are just as encouraging: 9,382 friends on Facebook and Twitter, 15,281 hits on YouTube and Flickr, 1,975 visitors to the site www.fondazionemaxxi.it daily and a newsletter that reaches over 8,000 contacts.
It is with these results that MAXXI celebrates its first months work.
These numbers, says Pio Baldi, President of the MAXXI Foundation, are for us a great source of great satisfaction and encouragement. Once again we would like to thank the Ministry for Cultural Heritage and Activities for believing in and supporting this project. My thanks also go to our sponsors, the companies and private individuals whose support is crucial, and to the whole of the national and international community that has been behind us during these first 30 days. The success of this first month actually enhances our sense of responsibility. We shall continue to work safe in the knowledge that faith in our activities and cultural proposals remains strong and confirms the vocation for Italian excellence this institution intends to pursue.
