Award-Winning Nature Master Photographer Peter Lik Joins The Weather Channel
The new program will follow Lik on his odyssey across the United States in search of the most dramatic landscape sculpted by nature.
ATLANTA, GA.- The Weather Channel® Companies (TWCC) announced that award-winning master photographer Peter Lik will be joining the network, starring in a half-hour action adventure nature series slated to debut in March 2011. He will also serve as a special contributor for the network, providing segments from his frequent travels to weather-impacted locales. Lik, a native of Melbourne, Australia, is one of the most awarded and collected fine art photographers in the world and is internationally acclaimed for his panoramic landscape photography that frequently highlights weather's impact.

The new program will follow Lik on his odyssey across the United States in search of the most dramatic landscape sculpted by nature. It will showcase his relentless exploration of the most epic landscapes across the United States, while often battling or embracing the weather in his quest for the perfect shot. Lik reveals the country through a whole new perspective, capturing its diverse climates and natural beauty through his lens. The Weather Channel has ordered 13 episodes of the series, which is produced by Peacock Productions.

"Bringing viewers along on my travels across this beautiful country will allow them to see parts of America that many have not had the pleasure of experiencing," said Lik.

"Every week, The Weather Channel fans post hundreds of their photos to weather.com, sharing their firsthand experiences with weather, providing hundreds of perspectives on weather's real impact, and showing their passion for capturing Mother Nature through a camera lens," said Bob Walker, executive vice president, marketing and cross platform development for TWCC. "This natural connection between photography and weather comes to life with master photographer Peter Lik, whose unique point of view will give our viewers an amazing look at our country and some of its most treasured landscapes, often through the filter of weather."

Along with his new original series, viewers of The Weather Channel will see segments on air and online featuring Lik as he travels across the United States. While he seeks out nature's most amazing vistas in the quest for the perfect photograph, he will share with viewers the challenges and opportunities that Mother Nature provides and his unique perspective of dealing with the latest weather systems.

Lik emerged from humble beginnings to become a respected and honored pioneer of contemporary photography. Born in Melbourne, Australia, to Czech immigrants, Peter's talent for photography became evident early on. For his eighth birthday, his parents gave him a Kodak Brownie camera and some film. A quick self-study, Peter was instantaneously transformed by the power of a photographic image and his ability to capture the beauty of nature.
