Nasser D Khalili's Sons Open a New Concept Gallery on Mayfair's Mount Street
The venture is the brainchild of three brothers – Daniel, Benjamin and Raphael Khalili – who have brought their sweeping pursuit of collecting and artistic provenance to bear in creating Shizaru.
LONDON.- A new concept gallery located on London’s fashionable Mount Street brings together an eclectic mix of the rare, the beautiful and the unique – crossing the boundaries between all art forms including fine art, design, sculpture, photography and jewellery, displaying contemporary as well as antique masterpieces.

Shizaru embodies an unprecedented retail philosophy, blurring the boundaries between gallery and museum. It has been designed as an interactive space to satisfy creative curiosity and an appreciation of the aesthetic; a forum for the exchange of ideas.

The venture is the brainchild of three brothers – Daniel, Benjamin and Raphael Khalili – who have brought their sweeping pursuit of collecting and artistic provenance to bear in creating Shizaru. The sons of renowned art collector and philanthropist, Professor Nasser D Khalili, the brothers have harnessed their background to develop a contemporary programme to reflect the brothers’ commitment to supporting the very best emerging British and international talent across the creative spectrum, offering a platform to showcase their work from the prestigious heart of Mayfair. As with the rest of the gallery, Shizaru’s contemporary programme will allow for a series of deserving artists to show key works.

Commenting on the launch of Shizaru, Daniel Khalili said: “Shizaru is an organic space – constantly evolving as a playhouse; a showroom. My brothers and I are attempting a fresh approach to creativity – we’ve been fortunate to have an upbringing which enabled a deep understanding and appreciation of the arts. We wanted to create something a little different by commissioning and showcasing an array of pieces including historical monuments and current masterpieces destined to become antiques of the future.”

Shizaru takes its distinctive name from the lesser known fourth monkey of the Three Wise Monkeys – See No Evil, Hear No Evil, Speak No Evil. Meaning “Do No Evil”, this fourth monkey has ironically been forgotten over the years…until it has popped up with a top hat and pocket watch on one of London’s hottest streets. Today, Mount Street is considered by many as the creative heart of London’s Mayfair; it has, itself, undergone major renovation in recent months. With all eyes on the area, there is no better time for Shizaru to open its doors to offer the most inspiring and rewarding experience for curious aesthetes everywhere.
