Getty appoints J. Timothy Child as new Vice President of Institutional Advancement
Since 1989, Mr. Child has been fundraising for the University of Chicago in various capacities.
LOS ANGELES, CA.- The J. Paul Getty Trust announced today the appointment of J. Timothy Child as Vice President of Institutional Advancement effective June 11, 2012.

Reporting to President and CEO Jim Cuno, Mr. Child will be responsible for cultivating support from individuals, foundations and corporations for the ambitious programs conducted by the Getty locally and internationally in support of the world's visual arts and cultural heritage.

"While the Getty is blessed with a generous endowment, the work of the Getty has grown to the point where the expansion of our programs will soon outstrip the growth of our financial resources. It is time to develop a program to supplement our endowment. Tim Child has the experience and ability to develop the support we need from a variety of sources," said Mr. Cuno.

Since 1989, Mr. Child has been fundraising for the University of Chicago in various capacities, including annual, major and principal gifts, planned giving, international advancement, and alumni relations, most recently as Associate Vice President and Senior Advisor. He earned his MA and MBA at the University of Chicago and his BA at St. Mary's College of California.

"I look forward to creating an advancement program that will engage individuals and organizations from all over the world in the important work the Getty is doing to conserve the world's cultural heritage, advance scholarship in art history, and collect and present art," said Mr. Child.

Although Mr. Child will be creating the Getty's first strategic advancement program, he will be building on successful fundraising efforts the Getty has been conducting for many years, including corporate sponsorship for exhibitions and the activities of five Councils that support various projects of the Getty, including conservation and acquisitions. Recently the Getty was instrumental in securing corporate sponsorship and individual support for the extremely successful Pacific Standard Time: Art in L.A., 1945-1980 initiative.

"I'm confident that just as people want to contribute to the world's great universities and research centers, they will want to assist in the Getty's groundbreaking and important work," said Cuno. "We know that Tim's efforts on behalf of the Getty will bring new support to benefit the arts community here in Los Angeles and throughout the world."
