DALLAS, TX.- Dallas Auction Gallery set a new record price for the contemporary artist Carlos Cruz-Diez during their April 25th Modern Art and Antique Auction. Lot 117, a Carlos Cruz-Diez multimedia piece, sold for a record price of $519,000.00 with an estimate of $150,000.00 to $250,000.00. Adriane Crosland, Director or Fine Arts, said “We were pleased to be able to offer this important work by Carlos Cruz-Diez that has remained in a private collection since 1970. Our aggressive marketing garnered interest internationally from both private collectors and dealers alike.”

The piece titled "Physichromie no. 511" and was extruded PVC, Casein (Plaka), and acrylic inserts mounted on plywood with an aluminum strip frame. The work measures 40 by 95 ½ inches and is signed, titled and dated 1970 on the reverse. Carlos Cruz-Diez is known for his Kinetic art, and this piece was exhibited at the XXXV Biennale de Venezia, Venice, Italy 1970.

Another important work by contemporary Artist Paul Jenkins sold for $19,120.00 with an estimate of $8,000.00 to $12,000.00, a set of (3) Al Held "Untitled" ink and acrylic on paper sold for $17,925.00 with an estimate of $7,000-$10,000.00, an oil painting on board by Jean-Gabriel Domergue sold for $20,315.00 with an estimate of $5,000.00 to $7,000.00, and an oil painting on canvas done by the School of Frans Pourbus (The Elder) sold for $50,787.50 with an estimate of $10,000-$15,000.00.

Although fine art was the star of the auction, signed French furniture did not disappoint. With high-end auction houses selling similar pieces, Dallas Auction Gallery proved that they can out beat any house when it comes to signed French Furniture. Two outstanding prices realized came from pieces out of an estate in Oklahoma City, an an E. Kahn Louis XVI style kidney shaped desk that sold for $65,725.00 with and estimate of $8,000 to $12,000.00, and a H. Conquet Louis XVI style commode a vantaux selling for $59,750.00 with an estimate of $20,000 to $30,000.00.

DAG also hit a high note with an exquisite collection of Royal Worcester by George Owen. Lot 63 a Royal Worcester potpourri and cover by George Owen sold for $32,862.50 with an estimate of $4,000 to $7,000.00, lot 74 a Royal Worcester reticulated vase by George Owen sold for $32,862.50 with an estimate of $4,000 to $7,000.00, and lot 88 a Royal Worcester reticulated ewer by George Owen sold for $21,510.00 with an estimate of $4,000 to $7,000.00.

• Lot 128- Pr. Venetian carved gilt and etched glass mirrors each featuring an elaborately carved gilt wood frame surmounted by a shell crest, flanked by pierced scrolls and flowers, the upper plate etched with scenes of classical beauties.
Estimate: $8,000-$12,000.00
Price Realized: $27,485.00

• Lot 51- Lalique "Miroir Cygnes" clear and frosted glass centerpiece, the two frosted and etched glass swans resting on a mirrored plateau, etched to resemble rippling water. Both swans with etched signature, "Lalique France".
Estimate: $3,000-$5,000.00
