LONDON.- Pangolin London is holding Strange Beasts; an exhibition of six young artists responding to the iconic sculptures of highly respected artist Lynn Chadwick. Strange Beasts creates a new context for Chadwick’s intrinsically appealing forms and reaffirms his status as one of the giants of the Modern Era.

The works within this exhibition encompass a diverse response to the challenging brief set by Gallery Pangolin in June, 2011. Establishing a connection between heritage and that of the vibrant local art scene in Stroud, Cockings & Hodge, Ralph Macartney, Gavin McClafferty, Daniel Sparkes and curator of the exhibition Lorraine Robbins all share a strong connection with Chadwick having all grown up, studied or worked in the area.

The participating artists have approached this project with artistic rigour and innovation to create a surprising and delightful experience for those both familiar and new to Chadwick’s work. The artists’ response examine every aspect of Lynn Chadwick’s practice and his approach to creating sculpture has been completely deconstructed here, breathing new life to a plethora of exciting work by these six exciting artists.

Pangolin London are very proud to show Strange Beasts again after the exhibition made it’s debut last year. The exhibition is a clear celebration of the close and unique relationship that we share with Lynn Chadwick and the artist’s estate, resulting in a thought provoking body of work that we sincerely hope you will enjoy.

A fully illustrated catalogue will accompanies the exhibition.
