LAGUNA BEACH, CA.- Peter Bo Rappmund is a graduate at California Institute of the Arts (2010) and has been based in Laguna Beach for the past two years. This will be Bo Rappmund's first solo exhibition at a museum. Working mainly in film, video, photography, and sound, Bo Rappmund will be showing serveral photographs for the first time and three films in his ex·pose exhibition: Psychohydrography (2010, HD, color, sound, 60 minutes), Vulgar Fractions (2011, HD, color, sound, 30 minutes), and Tectonics (2012, HD, color, sound, 60 minutes). This will be the world premier of Tectonics.

"I am excited to have this opportunity and am truly honored that curator Grace Kook-Anderson has chosen me as the inaugural artist for ex·pose," said Peter Bo Rappmund. "The fact that this will be a solo exhibition gives me a unique chance to show how my work has developed in the past, and where my work is headed. This will also be a nice opportunity to see the interplay between my pieces, something I feel will enrich and imbue both the photos and video work with new meaning."

Bo Rappmund’s working process is a lengthy one, recording natural and rhythmic changes in the landscape, often covering much geographical ground. In Psychohydrography, Bo Rappmund films the flow of water from the Sierra Mountains down to the Los Angeles Aqueduct, ending in the Pacific Ocean. The time-lapse film follows our water source in a way that many viewers do not have the opportunity to know first-hand, creating an experiential trajectory.

ex·pose is a new contemporary art program curated by Grace Kook-Anderson. Kook-Anderson is the curator of exhibitions at Laguna Art Museum and specializes in contemporary art. ex·pose will feature rotating exhibitions focusing on one emerging artist or mid-career artist at a time. The program aims to present a diverse range of artists working in all mediums and rooted in a conceptual foundation, and will encourage participating artists to take the opportunity to create new work.

"Through ex·pose, I'm hoping even more people will emerge to coalesce around an already burgeoning community of modern artists in Orange County," continued Bo Rappmund. "So many people I've talked to seem genuinely enthusiastic about the series and it is a great feeling to know that I'll be able to contribute. I hope this energy will continue on through the many other artists who will eventually show with ex·pose, and that the program has a long and successful life at Laguna Art Museum."

Following ex·pose: peter bo rappmund will be ex·pose: macha suzuki, on display November 4-January 27, 2012, and ex·pose: allison schulnik on display in spring 2013.

Previous examples of similar exhibitions at Laguna Art Museum include Jeremy Fish: Weathering the Storm (fall 2009); Sean Duffy: Searcher (fall 2010); Brad Coleman: Reproductions (spring 2011); and Lita Albuquerque: Emergence (summer 2011). These exhibitions can be seen as a case study to create a platform for a rotating contemporary art program at Laguna Art Museum.
