Everson Museum of Art Announce Extension of Haudenosaunee: Elements Exhibition for Two More Weeks

SYRACUSE, NY.- The Everson Museum of Art announce the extension of Haudenosaunee: Elements, and exhibition presenting works by contemporary Haudenosaunee artists from the six nations of the Iroquois Confederacy—Onondaga, Oneida, Mohawk, Seneca, Cayuga and Tuscarora. The exhibition which opened on November 13, 2010 will remain on view through January 30, 2011.

Haudenosaunee: Elements features artists with well established careers and new and notable talents. Among those exhibiting are Jay Carrier, Katsitsionni Fox, Edward J. Burnam Jr., Ronni-Leigh Goeman, Stonehorse Goeman, Tom Huff, Frank Buffalo Hyde, Ada Jacques, G. Peter Jemison, Peter B. Jones, Linley B. Logan, Shelley Niro, Aweñheeyoh Powless, Jolene Rickard, Leah Shenandoah, Natasha Smoke Santiago, Smiley Summers, Tammy Tarbell-Boehning, Tracy Thomas, Harold Farmer, Fred Gonyea, and Clint Shenandoah.

“We are thrilled to be extending this exhibition, and providing the opportunity for more visitors to see these works,” said Debora Ryan, Everson Museum of Art senior curator. “Haudenosaunee: Elements highlights the broad range of media and art forms by which these contemporary artists continue to create their own individual visual language while never straying far from their cultural heritage.”

The Everson Museum of Art, whose roots extend to 1897, is internationally recognized for its extensive and significant collection of ceramics, its pioneering art video collection and its distinctive structural design by the noted architect I.M. Pei. In addition to exhibitions, the Everson presents a monthly Contemporary Film Series, regular Artists Open events and a wide variety of art education programs for adults and children.
