High Times is an exquisitely designed and printed concertina book which folds out to a spectacular 4.5 foot panorama detailing the history of flight and aviation from the legendary attempts of Icarus to the revolutionary innovations of the Jet Age. The wraparound cover presents illustrated and written entries for each panel of the concertina detailing notable benchmarks in the history and mythology of aviation.
High Times will publish in October 2012 just in time for the holiday season. It is a fantastic education tool as well as a dazzling work of art that can be enjoyed and savored by the entire family. It can be read as a book, displayed on a mantelpiece, or even framed as a print. At a bargain price of $16, you can buy one to read and one to mount or hang on the wall!
High Times celebrates humanity's desire to fly over the ages, highlighting such events and inventions as Leonard da Vinci's failed attempt to build the first parachute in 1490, the around the world trip in 21 days of the "Graf Zeppelin" in 1929, the maiden voyage of "The Flyer" in 1903 built by the Wrights Brothers, the fighter planes and bombers of WWI and WWII, the first "jumbo jets" of the late 1960s, and the end of the Space Shuttle program in 2011. Fabulously stylish with a super cool retro look and feel, the book pays homage to the bold patterns and geometry of early Russian constructivism, along with a nod to mid century French commercial art.
