June 17, 2013 Amanda Martin Country: United States I'm writing from the Fort Wayne Museum of Art in Fort Wayne, IN. Early on Sunday, a drunk driver struck a large steel sculpture by Mark di Suvero, commissioned for the city of Fort Wayne in 1985. The sculpture is between 8-10 tons, and the driver struck it at such a high rate of speed that the sculpture has been twisted severely and knocked to the ground. It is one of the most significant works of art in our collection, and a major landmark in the city of Fort Wayne. The driver escaped unharmed and no one else was injured.

April 10, 2013 Hamed Abbaszadeh Country: Iran Hi thanks for your very nice site.
April 9, 2013 Noah G. Hoffman Country: United States To the editors at artdaily.org,
I have been trying to stop the sale of the sacred Hopi masks in Paris. I interact with many Hopi through my online work as Director of the Mark Rothko Southwest History Project. This project documents Rothko's unreported experiences with Native Americans which began with the Hopi in 1938. The sale of these masks is causing great pain to many Native Americans and reproducing these images is also a serious cultural trangression which the media fails to grasp. No American auction house would sell these pieces and the owner is using this Paris auction house like the Nazis used the Swiss auction houses to liquidate the art stolen from murdered Jews.
The Director of Research at the Musee de Quai Branly has given me her personal assurance that the museum will not try and buy these sacred pieces and that they are sending a curator to the auction to observe. This auctioneer is ignorant and a racist and this sale must be stopped. Please remove the photos.
April 5, 2013 Shanna Collateta Country: United States I am a Hopi Tribal Member. And i am very upset at the Auction of our (HOPI) Katsina friends. This is very sad and very disrespectful. No matter if these were given or sold by someone of the Hopi to someone outside of Hopi it is WRONG!!! These are Spiritual beings that belong to Hopi People and are Sacrilegious. Our Katsina's belong in Arizona @ home on the Hopi Reservations. We would like these friends to be returned to our people!
Anyone involved in this auction including the people who sold these Katsinas unfortunately misfortunes will come to them and all them whom acquires them.
The Katsinas need a special care year around and only the Hopi People are able to give them this kind of care. If these Katsinas are in the hand of a NoN-Hopi, this is where the misfortunes will come!
