CHEVY CHASE, MD.- Former director of the Smithsonian Institution Press, Daniel Goodwin, 57, died. In the 1980’s he joined the Smithsonian Institution Press as an acquisitions editor for anthropology and archaeology. He was responsible for developing the Smithsonian Series in Ethnographic Inquiry and the Smithsonian Series in Archaeological Inquiry. From 1995 to 1998 he was the director of the press. He studied his bachelor's degree at Antioch College and got a master's in anthropology from the University of Texas.
