Size Matters: Exploring Scale in the Arts Council Collection
Richard Patterson, Motorcrosser, 1995. Oil and acrylic spray paint on canvas. Purchased from Anthony d'Offay Gallery.
WAKEFIELD, UK.- The Yorkshire Sculpture Park presents Size Matters: Exploring Scale in the Arts Council Collection, on view through June 5, 2005. Size Matters examines the transformative power of scale in recent British art; it brings together over thirty works from the Arts Council Collection, including a postage stamp the size of a billboard, a miniature toy motorcylist enlarged to heroic proportions, and an air freshner standing over two meters tall. Size Matters makes us feel tiny and gigantic in turns: playful yet thought provoking, it lifts the lid on our obsession with the relative size of things and prompts us to reconsider our position within the world. Represented artists include: Eric Bainbridge, Martin Creed, rose Finn-Kelcey, Cornelia Parker and Elizabeth Wright.
