Get It Off Your Chest at Orange County Center
SANTA ANA, CA.- The Orange County Center for Contemporary Art (OCCCA) presents "Get It Off Your Chest", on view April 1 - May 1, 2005. A provocative multimedia show about breasts is presented by Women In The Arts and the Orange County Center for Contemporary Art, and jurored by Christina Smith and Joanna Roche.

The works in this exhibition articulate a multiplicity of viewpoints and concepts that reflect the active spirit of inquiry found throughout the arts community. Overall, they establish that there is a diversity and quality of the methods, media, and concepts incorporated in art based on statements about the part of the human anatomy known as the breast.

This exhibition, focusing on breasts, is not dominated by any one mode of thought or handling, nor is its production limited to a few styles or schools of working. Multiplicity and experimentation in form, concept, and execution marks the exhibition as a whole. In the chosen works, the breast form has been visually explored for its function, its inherent beauty, as iconography for gender specific politics, as a vessel for disease, as a curvilinear line, and/or as a narrative.
