PARIS, FRANCE.- Leonardo Da Vincis Mona Lisa is back on view at the refurbished Salle des Etats at the Louvre. The cost of the renovation was $6.1 million. Each year around 6 million people view this work of art.
Curator Cecile Cecile Scaillierez stated, You will be able to rediscover La Joconde. The lighting, display and space accorded the portrait will make it much easier to admire the museums top attraction.
The work had hung at the Salle Rose since 2001 while the Salle des Etats was undergoing renovation. The Mona Lisa had been before that at the Salle des Etats for around 40 years, but there were poor conditions such as no air conditioning.
