American Color Print Society's 59th Exhibition
BRYN MAWR, PA.- The American Color Print Society’s 59th Annual Members Exhibition will have eighty paintings on display from April 17 to May 22, 2005 at The American College’s Gregg Conference Center Gallery at 270 S. Bryn Mawr Avenue, in Bryn Mawr, PA. The exhibition will include works from local artists as well as artists from across the country. The College will host a reception in honor of the opening of the exhibition on April 17, 2005 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. in the Gallery.

This exhibition will introduce gallery visitors to prints, a unique and special art form. Prints are works of art produced in editions with original impressions of one or multiple images. They are created by transferring layers of ink from a printing surface onto handmade paper or another material such as silk.

The American Color Print Society is an internationally recognized organization, whose goal is to support emerging and established artist printmakers”, stated Idaherma Williams, President. “It will be an honor to participate in the Gallery at The American College and to be able to share these magnificent works with the community.”

The American Color Print Society was founded in Philadelphia in 1940. Nationally recognized printmakers are members of the Society and the organization has been at the forefront in modern printmaking for years.

In its early history, only black and white prints were collected by the American Color Print Society, but as the decades passed the organization created and developed full-color images.

“This is an exciting opportunity to view these wonderful prints. The American College owns major prints in its permanent collection and is looking forward to helping sponsor this dynamic exhibition”, stated Marjorie Fletcher, curator of The American College’s Gallery”.

The exhibition will be juried by Michal Smith, Executive Director of The Print Center in Philadelphia. The Print Center, known worldwide, has been a major force for contemporary printmaking since 1915.

The art exhibitions in the Gregg Conference Center Gallery are sponsored by The American College throughout the year as part of The College’s on-going efforts to provide service to the surrounding community. The exhibitions are planned for the enjoyment of all.
