The 3rd Salon du Collectionneur To Open

PARIS, FRANCE.-The 3rd Salon du Collectionneur will welcome art and antiques lovers to the Grand Palais from 15 - 23 September 2007. Conceived and organized by France's Syndicat National des Antiquaires, the Salon du Collectionneur enjoyed great success with collectors, exhibitors and the public when it was staged in 2003 and 2005.

The Salon du Collectionneur is a showcase for today's dynamic art and antiques trade, reflecting its up-to-date outlook and acting as a vector for development. The Salon highlights the richness of each specialist field and brings visitors and collectors into contact with the objects they love. Over 120 dealers will be displaying their finest artworks under the famous glass roof of the Grand Palais this year. The Salon du Collectionneur opens with a Vernissage on Friday 14 September.

The 3rd Salon du Collectionneur will focus on the link between objects and collectors. Along with antiques dealers, craftsmen are at the heart of the collecting process. Restoring, preserving, and safeguarding are essential steps requiring precious knowledge and skill.

So this year the Salon du Collectionneur is delighted to welcome Les Grands Ateliers de France - an academy of craftsmen specializing in lifestyle and decorative arts, and who count among the most fervent ambassadors of the art profession.

The Salon will showcase 16 workshops where visitors can meet the craftsmen and restorers who embody the peak of artistic achievement.

Collecting down the years, with Citroën - Another special exhibition will Collecting Down the Years, giving visitors new to art and antiques fairs an original glimpse of the world of collecting. Citroën's exceptional display in the Grand Palais, involving 10 vintage automobiles (and a concept-car), will offer visitors a journey through time that will delight all those with a love for magnificent cars.

Photogaphy exhibition - Neuflize Vie will be showing part of their photograph collection in the restaurant and V.I.P. area.

Attention… talent!! - Focus on a young dealer - Another innovation at this year's Salon will be the chance offered to a young dealer to sample the élite world of an international fair for the first time. This representative of the new generation of antique dealers will be given the opportunity to work at the fair among top international specialists in pursuit of new clients. This initiative is further evidence of the Salon du Collectionneur's pedagogical role.
