Delaware Art Museum Announces New Officers and Trustees
Carolyn S. Burger has been newly elected President of the Museum’s Board of Trustees.
WILMINGTON, DE.- The Delaware Art Museum is pleased to announce that Carolyn S. Burger has been newly elected President of the Museum’s Board of Trustees, replacing Rodney P. Wood who held the post since 2005. Ms. Burger, who has served on the Board since 2004, was the founder and principal of CB Associates, Inc., a consulting firm specializing in legislation, technology deployment for senior executives, and executive coaching, from 1996 through 2002. Before that she had a long career with The Bell Telephone Company of Pennsylvania and served as President and CEO of Bell Atlantic–Delaware, Inc. from 1991 to 1996. Ms. Burger is currently a Director of Wilmington Trust Corporation.

Donald J. Puglisi has been elected First Vice President. Mr. Puglisi, who has served on the Museum’s Board since 2005, is the managing director of Puglisi & Associates, a firm providing investment management, accounting, and other services to holding companies and special purpose finance companies. He taught for many years at the University of Delaware , where he is the MBNA America Professor of Business Emeritus. Mr. Puglisi has also served as commissioner of the State of Delaware Public Service Commission , to regulate investor-owned utilities, since 1997.

Gerret van S. Copeland will continue on as the Chairman of the Museum’s Board and Brock J. Vinton and Phyllis Aerenson will continue in their current positions of Second Vice President and Secretary, respectively. Three trustees were re-elected to a second term: David W. Baldt, Maria M. Buccini, and Carol S. Rothschild; and five new trustees were elected to three-year terms: Daniel M. Kristol, Paula J. Malone, Joan L. Sharp, Joanne K. Sundheim, and Josephine Vassallo.

Daniel M. Kristol is a retired lawyer with Richards, Layton & Finger and previously served on the Delaware Art Museum Board from 2000 to 2008. Having earned BA and JD degrees from the University of Pennsylvania , Mr. Kristol enjoys tennis, movies, and continuing his education. He resides in Greenville with his wife Katherine.

Paula J. Malone is the president of Wings Foundation, Inc. and previously served on the Delaware Art Museum Board from 2002 to 2008. Dr. Malone earned her Ph.D. at Temple University and now resides in Naples , Florida , where she enjoys cultivating her aviation hobby.

Joan L. Sharp is the founder and principal of Life Strategies, LLC. She is a Certified Financial Planner, Chartered Financial Consultant, and Chartered Advisor in Philanthropy. Ms. Sharp holds a Masters of Science in Financial Services and is active in many local organizations including the YWCA and Christiana Care. She collects modern art and lives in Wilmington .

Joanne K. Sundheim served on the Delaware Art Museum Board from 2001 to 2007. She is the SVP & Compliance Managing Director at JPMorgan Chase. A graduate of Temple University ’s School of Law , Ms. Sundheim resides in Wilmington .

Josephine Vassallo is a Bookkeeper and Real Estate Manager for Fusco Enterprises. She has two children and is new to the Delaware Art Museum Board. Mrs. Vassallo resides in Wilmington with her husband Frank.
