New Photography Exhibition by Lucinda Chua on View at Bermondsey Square
Theatre Steps by Lucinda Chua.
LONDON.- Award-winning young photographer Lucinda Chua´s exhibition, entitled 'The Still Point' is on view in Bermondsey Square. This new public square has an exhibition space devoted to showcasing works by emerging designers, photographers and artists.

As a photographer, Chua makes work reflecting her medium, commenting on the subjectivity of the photograph and its inability to represent a moment in its entirety. Using a large format plate camera, studio lighting and models, she presents ordinary every day spaces in a romantic over dramatised way. Her photographs are fragments of narratives, where her characters appear trapped within the photographic frame, bound to their poses, incapable of completing their journeys.

Lucinda Chua commented: "I am interested in the transient space and making a spectacle out of the every day. I work with found spaces, which I re order and reshuffle until they become unrecognisable from how I found them... once I have taken the photograph, I put everything back exactly as it was. I like the idea that this moment I have captured will never occur again, all that exists to document it is the photograph."

Chua has previously exhibited in internationally and the UK. In September this year she will represent the United Kingdom at the Young Artists Biennale in Skopje, Macedonia.

Bermondsey Square is a refreshingly diverse scheme in the heart of London's hippest district. The first development of its kind in London, Bermondsey Square comprises 76 apartments, a locally run and managed art-house cinema - Shortwave, The Bermondsey Square Hotel and members' club by Bespoke, loft offices, a supermarket and a new restaurant and deli by Del'Aziz. All of this is set around a new public Square that continues to host the long-established Bermondsey Antiques Market, and will become a destination in its own right.
