Arne Quinze Exhibits a Selection of Works from His Africa Electronica Exhibition
LONDON.- Phillips de Pury & Company announced that a selection of 32 works from Arne Quinze’s "Africa Electronica" exhibition at Phillips de Pury’s London Headquarters will relocate to Phillips de Pury & Company’s space at the Saatchi Gallery. The extended exhibition will be on view from December 17 – January 17, 2010.

Simon de Pury, (Chairman, Phillips de Pury & Company):“I am thrilled that Phillips de Pury is able to host the first ever exhibition of Arne Quinze in London. Over the past few years he has been possessed by a frenetic urge to create his unique and highly personal universe. His works have found their way into distinguished collections on both sides of the Atlantic. His art is merely the extension of the immense generosity and passion with which he conducts his life.”

Africa Electronica: In the process of assembling Stilthouses and Bidonvilles I fully surrender to my own imagination astonished by how unorthodox houses can be built, discovering a smile on my face trying to capture these anomalous constructions – Arne Quinze.

For his exhibition ‘Africa Electronica’, Arne Quinze presents adaptations of Stilthouses, Bidonvilles, new Lakeviews and African Masks. Quinze’s installations look at the formation and organization of cities and civilizations and the contradicting tensions within. Looking at the ongoing rhythm running though varied buildings and settlements within civilization, Quinze is inspired by and takes an in-depth look into the continuous evolution of human’s and their surroundings.

Arne Quinze has a passion for chaos and the elegance found within it. His work encapsulates a desire to capture and suspend both his art and his audience in an otherwise kinetic and bold environment. Having first worked in graffiti in the early in 1980’s and now working in the fields of art and design, his work like his career is in constant motion. Quinze’s unmistakable style is bold, energetic and a reflection of the modern world in which we live. The paintings, sculptures and drawings presented in ‘Africa Electronica’ at Phillips de Pury & Company are a further extension of his view on the world. Having gained much notoriety for his large outdoor installations and with recent success at auction, Quinze is an artist that will continue to be a progressive figure within art and design for years to come.

Thierry Nataf, (Senior Vice President, Phillips de Pury & Company): “Arne Quinze is a very unique artist that I have had the pleasure of getting to know. Proving himself again with his fantastic ‘Africa Electronica’ exhibition, Quinze demonstrates the power of his art by creating a visual construction of the primitive world, a sort of "Africa" merged with the era of "Electronica".

The exhibition, in our London Gallery at Howick, has been a great success and we have decided to extend the exhibition beyond 2009, through the New Year in 2010, by giving additional visibility to "AFRICA ELECTRONICA", and highlighting a selection of the pieces at our private space within the Saatchi Gallery. As one of the most prominent contemporary galleries worldwide, the Saatchi Gallery will provide an opportunity for art enthusiasts and collectors alike to experience one of the best exhibitions of the New Year. "AFRICA ELECTRONICA"...MAGICA!”
