MOSCOW.- From August 31 to September 5, 2010 Moscow Centre for Contemporary Art Winzavod will hold the fourth International Design Festival Design Act 2010.

The DESIGN ACT mission is to showcase global industrial design trends, to bring the audience closer to the world’s major designers and their work. Tokyo and London held a similar show titled 100% Design, New York and Vienna had the Design Week, Milan - I Salone, Miami – Miami Gift Show, and Moscow has Design Act providing the Russian devotees of industrial design with a unique chance to come and see the best world achievements with their own eyes. For three years since its first show, over 70,000 thousand people visited Design Act (which is the first similar project that Russia has ever seen), which proves that the show is what Russian people and mass media have been waiting for.

In 2010 MegaFon became the General Partner of Design Act. ‘Design Act is a definite benchmark of the design industry, and we could not but support this interesting project. The festival brings together talented young men and women, experimentalists who think outside the box, are not afraid to push the envelope, and are ready to change their future and the future of all people. We are of one breed, and we are ready to create the future together’, notes Larisa Tkachuk, Deputy Director General for Commerce of OJSC MegaFon.

From Day One, Design Act managed to morph from just a professionals-only festival into a nation-wide event aimed to address the most urgent issues of the Russian economy, to increase the interest in industrial design among young people of Russia and active consumers who can see the products and promising inventions for themselves. All-Russian Shipbuilding Design Contest FLEET FOR POWERFUL NATION that begins within the framework of Design Act serves the best proof. United Shipbuilding Corporation (that owns all Russia’s national shipbuilding assets) will announce its first open contest for design of ships and components where both professional studios and young experts can participate. Within the framework of the festival they will also announce the results of the Innovation Design (ID) Contest held in cooperation with the Federal Agency for Youth Affairs in Half Year I, 2010.

The best thing about the exhibition is that anyone can find something that interests them particularly. The agenda of Design Act 2010 includes events that will interest people of all ages, and social and professional statuses.

DESIGN FORUM offers lectures, master classes, workshops, and panel discussions on various industrial design topics with participation of Russian and foreign designers. In 2010 the participants of the DESIGN FORUM include:

• CEES DONKERS, Chief of the Department for Design and Architecture of Eindhoven (he will deliver a lecture on urban design),

• EDUARD SWEEP, CEO of YKSI (curator of the Bicycle Fantasy exhibition),

• a lecture and a master class by GRO DESIGN,

• the awarding ceremony for the Innovative Design Contest,

• and over 20 lectures delivered by major foreign and Russian designers.

DESIGN EXHIBITION offers exhibitions of major foreign and Russian designers, exhibition stalls and areas for partners and participants of the festival.

The WHITE HALL will host over 20 solo shows of foreign designers and design bureaus (many of them have won a Red Dot Design Award) including GRO DESIGN (Netherlands), VALENTIN VODEV (Austria), KHODI FEIZ DESIGN STUDIO (Netherlands), POOR DESIGN (Poland), NоATWILMS (Italy), MATTEO GONET (Switzerland), TWEELINK (Netherlands), LUIS ESLAVA (Spain), PAWEL GROBELNY (Poland), BCXSY (Netherlands), etc.

For the first time in Russia the RED HALL will hold the BICYCLE FANTASY exhibition managed by YKSY Studio and Li Edelkoort (Netherlands). Li Edelkoort is one of the most important trendsetters in Europe and was named by the TIME Magazine one of the 25 most influential people in fashion and design. As a part of DESIGN ACT 2010 she will hold the BICYCLE FANTASY exhibition dedicated to the bicycle, which, despite being a mundane object, is still the focus of many discoveries, art work, developments and design. The BICYCLE FANTASY exhibition showcases not only bicycles designed by well-known European design bureaus but also a collection of design objects created using bicycle parts (e.g., a handbag and a carpet made from bicycle tires, a candlestick made from bicycle wheels, etc.). The BICYCLE FANTASY exhibition is also a part of Quensday Festival (Berlin) and Design Factory (Slovakia). In 2010 it will be exhibited for the first time in Russia as a part of DESIGN ACT 2010.

W0W INC. Studio (Japan) is one of the most successful studios in the world; it has its representative offices in Sendai and Florence. It mainly specializes in developing new formats for interactive video installations, decorating exhibitions, and creating unique pieces of arts and new interface designs. As a part of DESIGN ACT the Studio will present FACTORY AND FANTASY, a 40-meter interactive video installation, in the Red Hall. Representatives of W0W Inc. will also deliver a lecture for DESIGN FORUM.

DESIGN MARKET is an exhibition and sale of designer objects, it offers a unique opportunity to buy extraordinary and exclusive things for your home and for your pleasure. For these three years DESIGN MARKET presented over 300 participants and sold more than 10,000 objects to satisfy every taste. In 2010 over 60 Russian and 40 foreign designers will participate in the DESIGN MARKET! 30 foreign designers will be presented in Moscow for the first time.

DIGITAL ACT: For the first time in its history the Festival presents an interactive multimedia area. The Arched Hall will showcase various visual devices. It is an area dedicated to die-hard experimentalists, artists and filmmakers, physicists and engineers, light, sound engineers, special effects and interactive projection engineers, performers and DJs. The WINSTON XS DIGITAL ACT will hold nighttime musical performances of well-known foreign and Russian DJs and VJs. The event will bring together famous designers from all over the world, guests and participants of the Festival, celebrities of art, advertising and business. It creates a unique environment with an unparalleled concentration of fresh ideas per square meter!

Within the framework of the Festival Campbell's will announce the results of its art contest Campbell's® SOUPzavod, and Comme des Garçons Parfums will show a short film dedicated to the launch of its new perfume WONDERWOOD and produced by the Quay brothers who are famous for their animated masterpieces.
