Sotheby's Opens Fall Wine Auction Season With New York Sale
NEW YORK, N.Y.- Sotheby’s New York will open the 2011 Fall season of wine auctions on 10 September with Finest and Rarest Wines Featuring An Important New England Cellar featuring 1,183 lots estimated to fetch $2.9/4 million. This is the second time Sotheby’s has offered wines from this Important New England Cellar with the first sale in December 2006 far surpassing expectations. The collection is notable for its strength in Bordeaux and Burgundy classics but also includes a superb range of the very best Rhône and Italian wines. In addition, the various owner portion of the sale offers bidders a very strong line-up of the top producers from the Côte de Nuits in Burgundy, outstanding Rhône, superlative Bordeaux, and parcel quantities of the most popular wines from California.
