HONG KONG.- Sotheby’s Hong Kong two-day Spring wine sale series concluded today with a combined total of HK$63.6 million / US$8.2 million. The two sales - The Classic Cellar From A Great American Collector IX and Finest & Rarest Wines, Including The Bordeaux Winebank Collection and Wines Direct From Château Angélus, Louis Roederer and Colgin Cellars were both 100% sold.

Serena Sutcliffe, M.W., International Head of Sotheby’s Wine, commented on the sale today: “This was an exciting weekend of wine sales for Sotheby’s in Hong Kong, bringing to Asia superb direct-from-thecellar collections which wine lovers lapped up with great enthusiasm. Mature, classic Bordeaux, Burgundy and Champagne were a huge success, with California’s Colgin Cellars flying to new heights.”

The pristine condition of the greatest classic wines from Bordeaux Wine Bank attracted those who want perfect stock for consumption or cellaring for the future, while Louis Roederer Champagne direct from Reims, including the magical Cristal, drew in Champagne connoisseurs who vied for precious bottles and formats.

The magnificent range of Château Angélus, covering the period 1985 to 2009, proved that wines direct from the property have a special allure.

Napa Valley's Colgin Cellars went into orbit, with a unique offering that covered all the wines from this extraordinary estate - a landmark sale that has set records and standards in contemporary Californian wine history.

Robert Sleigh, Head of Sotheby’s Wine, Asia, added, “Colgin Cellars confirmed its position at the pinnacle of California wines today and Asian buyers seized the opportunity to acquire these small production wines rarely seen in these quantities.”
