Spencer Tunick, Barcelona, 2003.
BRUGES, BELGIUM.- Around 2000 people went naked in Bruges to be part of a nude art project by photographer Spencer Tunick. The weather was frigid, almost freezing and also windy. The people posed at dawn in a street close to the medieval Belfry and also touring the canals on boats.

Charlotte Logghe, 28, stated, “It was a good feeling, everybody went naked and there was this sense of togetherness. There was no shame. It was extremely cold though. We were wet through and through.”

Contemporary artist Spencer Tunick prepared the installation in Bruges on the occasion of the opening of the cultural festival Corpus Bruges ’05.

Born in Middletown, New York, 1967, Tunick currently lives in Brooklyn, New York. His temporary site-related installations include the MOCA Cleveland (2004), Institut de Cultura, Barcelona (2003), Saatchi Gallery, London (2003), XXV Bienal de São Paulo, Brazil (2002), Valencia Biennial (2001) and the Vienna Kunsthalle (1999).
