SHEFFIELD, UK.- Site Gallery will present Juan Pablo Echeverri - Diva’s Life, on view January 13 to 27, 2007. Juan Pablo Echeverri has been artist in residence at Site Gallery since September. Based in Bogota, Columbia, this is Echeverri’s first visit to the UK. This exhibition is the culmination of the work he has developed during his time in Sheffield and includes a video diary and a series of self-portraits which he has taken every day in a photobooth. Using an array of outlandish and startling outfits and costumes, Echeverri’s work plays with issues of identity and gender, but also contrasts mundane daily activities with a search for the dream of staring in his own pop video.

Juan Pablo Echeverri studied at the Pontificia Universidad Javeriana and has had solo exhibitions at The Museum of Modern Art, Bogota, and The Alliance Francais, Bogota. A joint initiative between Visiting Arts, Ministry of Culture Colombia, British Council., Columbia and Arts Council England.
