NEW YORK.- Become a tourist in the world of kink, fetish and fantasy as the Museum of Sex opens its latest exhibition, KINK: Geography of the Erotic Imagination, on February 8, 2007. Based on the work of social anthropologist Katherine Gates, the Museum of Sex's most hands-on, interactive exhibition to date will take museum patrons on an eye-opening tour through the geography of sexual fantasy.

Visitors will experience the odors, textures, and sensations that form the core appeal of many erotic kinks and fetishes and be given the opportunity to play with and appreciate the sexual creativity generated from permitting the imagination to embark on a sensual journey filled with often-unexpected sources of pleasure.

The template for this exhibition is Curator Gates' highly detailed erotic roadmap, documenting ten years of research in the heretofore-uncharted world of Kink. The map serves as both a metaphor and a guide. While it defines the rules and charts the edges of the unfamiliar, it also encourages patrons to become a tourist. From the more familiar locations such as Leather, Bondage and Shoe Fetishes to the more exotic destinations including Ponyplay, Adult Babies, Sploshing, Furverts and Vores, visitors are invited to take a step off the beaten path and push beyond the limits of their own sexual imagination.

Costumes, props, photographs, videos, original artworks and recreated environments organized by Sarah Jacobs, Museum of Sex Curator, contribute to the highly interactive adults-only playground designed by Jennifer Kinon of Pentagram and encourage exploration of the world of kink and fetish and explain how it captivates the imagination and encourages fantasy.

"KINK will allow visitors to try on fetish costumes, climb into bondage furniture, and play with kinky props, all the while learning about the larger narrative themes that bind all human eroticisms together, from the most 'vanilla' to the most kinky," noted Daniel Gluck, Museum of Sex Founder and Executive Director. "Patrons are encouraged to bring cameras and document their journey into this erotic wonderland at specially created photo ops throughout the exhibition. While this exhibition is guaranteed to awaken the senses, it is also designed to remind us that more often than not, fantasy itself is the most powerful means of seduction and can evoke the most powerful of sexual responses."
