Local Dallas Artist to Participate in Exhibit in New York

NEW YORK, NY.- Kris Swenson, a Dallas artist, was chosen to participate in the Art Raw Gallery Inaugural Exhibit in New York, New York. The exhibit will showcase the artwork of almost 300 emerging artists and runs from February 19 to March 21, 2009. Art Raw is a new contemporary gallery that features modern works by cutting edge, currently working artists.

"I am thrilled to be part of the opportunity to bring my vision to the east coast," Swenson said.

The primary thing about all of my work is that it is built around strong emotion and, regardless of the medium, will always convey a strong mood or emotion, she said. I work best in a 'stream of consciousness method', just trying to let go and not force it, rather just go with what i feel and emote it visually.

Swenson was chosen out of over 25,000 artists nationwide to participate in the exhibit. She will have four photographs on display and for sale.

"Having the choice of working in widely varied mediums (photography, digital compositing, painting, drawing, video editing/post-production and other multimedia as well as more tactile work such as my assemblage pieces) keep it always exciting for me to produce work because of having all these tools to create with," Swenson said.

The opening reception will be held at Art: Raw Gallery on and videocast online for viewing realtime at http://artrawgallery.com/live/.

Swenson is currently also displaying her well-perceived piece "On a Personal Note" at the Art Hotel Gallery in Dallas through March 28.

Besides commercial art shows, she has also donated much of her time and art participating in charity auction art shows which benefit animal rescues, Cystic Fibrosis patients, Cancer Care charities, Darfur refugees and more. Her exhibition history includes over two dozen art shows, featuring both underground and high profile galleries all throughout Texas, Colorado, and now New York.

She will also be participating in the very last show in Fort Worth's historic Firehouse Art Gallery. The opening reception is February 21, and the show runs through February 28.
